This dog showed up on our driveway. We stayed awake for hours trying to find a home for it. Posted flyers around the neighborhood, and posted an add on craigslist.

We have three dogs of our own, two of which are puppies. We work full time, and unable to keep this dog for very long. We are looking for somewhere we can take this dog for further care until the owners are found.

I recently acquired a dog from some homeless people. They had set his face on fire and then let him loose into a busy intersection because they didn’t want him anymore. Needless to say I took him without questions asked. He was neutered when I took him in and I took him to the vet to fix up his face and get his shots and heart worm check. He is doing much better, heart worm negative, and is probably the most joyful dog I have ever had, despite his abusive background. The only problem with this lovely picture is that 1) I and my partner are both full-time students and workers. 2) Our apartment won’t allow this breed. We have been barely able to make our schedules fit in order to take care of him and that is with trying to dodge the management because one look at this dog and we would probably get evicted.

Before taking him from the homeless people they had mentioned his name was Jake, and he responds very well to that. He is house trained but would probably do well with a back yard seeing as he is still a puppy with a lot of energy, (vet placed him at no more than 2yrs). He does well with verbal commands, he knows sit, stay , no, outside, inside, and is extremely well on a leash. He is currently living with 3 cats and they adjusted very well to him and visa versa. He seems to have a little bit of trouble with other dogs, but we haven’t had much contact with them so I can’t really say much on that note. HE IS AMAZING WITH KIDS!

In all I would love to keep him, he really is such an amazing character for coming directly off the streets and from an abusive environment (he flinches at cylindrical objects, loud noises, tinfoil?, and he cannot be in the same room when you are using the oven). But I never expected to be getting such a large dog and therefore have no time or a big enough space to live.

We love our chica, but my brother has astma and we cant keep her in the house one more winter. We are very sad to let her go, but we dont have another choice. And also dont want to see her beeing killed, it brokes our hearts. Please help us.

Jack is neutered and up to date on his vaccines. He has had some personality issues in the past from a puppy, very shy, shakes when introduced to new situations, or people and hates riding in the car to the groomers. Although he gets along well with our Shihtzu-Bischon mix dog (female), he has recently become extremely aggressive with our boxer-mix (male) and they have had two very severe altercations which resulted in injuries to Jack. We now have to keep them completely separate. One has to be kenneled when the other is out and vice versa – including separate walks. Because of the severity of the aggression, we are seeking to find a rescue that will help us find Jack a home where he can be loved and cared for in the safest and best suited environment for him. We cannot risk another violent encounter, and because Jack is always the initiator, we feel he must be placed in a new home that will suit his temperment. He has also expressed aggressive behavior with small children so we have to keep him kenneled whenever children are in our home. We are also in the process of being licensed for foster care and the danger of aggression with a small child placed in our home is also a concern. Jack does well with my husband and I and our teen daughter. so perhaps a home with adults may be best. We do not wish to surrender Jack to a shelter and desire to work with a rescue to find him a home. Please let us know if you can help. Thank you
